Maison Stamm: An innovative approach to knives that carry a story
Born from a passion for craftsmanship and a desire to create durable knives, Maison Stamm is an artisan cutlery workshop guided by four essential pillars: creating long-lasting products, celebrating heritage, accompanying people in their everyday moments and shared experiences, and making high-quality cutlery truly accessible.
The Story of Maison Stamm
Maison Stamm began with an ambitious idea: using common sense to reimagine a 25,000-year-old tool and bring new life to Alsatian heritage.
The adventure started with a shared vision between Quentin and Josselin to rethink artisan cutlery with practical, thoughtful design. Engineers turned craftsmen, they set out to break traditional codes by creating ergonomic, innovative knives built to last a lifetime.
Supported by family and friends, and propelled by a successful crowdfunding campaign, the two founders built an eco-responsible cutlery business rooted in local values.
The uniqueness of Maison Stamm lies in its strong local identity and concrete eco-responsibility: each knife handle tells a story, shaped from reclaimed wood taken from historic Alsatian half-timbered houses.
Today, more than 5,000 knives have been sold, and the brand is recognised by professionals in gastronomy. We are proud to equip prestigious tables in Alsace and beyond.
Our expertise
Maison Stamm stands for a demanding and authentic French craftsmanship where every detail counts. Our knives are made entirely in France: the blades are forged in Thiers, the historic centre of French cutlery, while the handles are crafted in our Alsace workshop using reclaimed wood from centuries-old timber-frame houses.
Our know-how is built on a simple approach: using common sense to design knives that truly meet everyday needs. All our models from the Stuck, our kitchen knife to the Soultz, our folding knife, and the Stamm, our table knife are designed to be easy to handle and adapted to natural gestures.
Formerly known as Cygocraft, Maison Stamm supports customers throughout the lifetime of their knife. We offer sharpening services, wooden handle treatment and repairs to ensure each piece lasts.
Our knives are built to endure, to accompany you through the years and to be passed on. This blend of heritage, innovation, durability and local production is what defines our identity.
The artisans behind Maison Stamm
Maison Stamm was born from the meeting of Quentin and Josselin, two engineers who share the same vision of entrepreneurship: creating useful, durable objects rooted in real life.
Their shared passion for craftsmanship and materials naturally brought them together around an unusual project reimagining the knife and revitalising the world of cutlery.
In their Alsace workshop, each brings a specific sensitivity: Quentin focuses on metal, seeking precision in every movement, while Josselin works with wood, attentive to texture and the history carried by each piece.
Together, they design knives that move away from traditional codes: more ergonomic, more refined, and thoughtfully designed for everyday use.
Our Vision
Maison Stamm’s vision is built on a simple principle: doing things with common sense. Since the very beginning, the brand has worked to optimise every stage of production in order to create better, with less. This means reusing existing materials, improving processes, choosing durable resources and maintaining fully local production.
Our cutlery also stands out through its desire to break away from the conventions of traditional knife making. We design knives that genuinely meet the needs of everyday life. Our aim is to draw inspiration from French cultural know-how while offering knives suited to contemporary lifestyles whether for those who cook, craft or simply use a knife daily.
Above all, our vision takes shape through knives that tell a story. By reclaiming wood from historic half-timbered houses, each handle carries a piece of Alsatian heritage. This choice reflects our attachment to the region, and our wish to highlight stories from other areas of France. Materials are carefully selected, restored and transformed into everyday objects built to last.
Our values
Authenticity
Maison Stamm is, above all, a human adventure driven by passion and a desire to remain close to our customers. Every knife is shaped by hand in our Alsace workshop, far from industrial production.
Eco-responsibility
We prioritise local suppliers, small-batch production and the reuse of wood from historic Alsatian homes. Eco-responsibility means creating without wasting, giving new life to materials and offering objects that respect both the material and the user.
Innovation
Innovation means refusing to reproduce outdated traditional codes. Our approach favours efficiency, ease of maintenance and functionality to design modern, accessible knives.
Durability
Our knives are made from stabilised historic wood and durable steels, following a responsible production model. Durability means creating fewer objects, but making them better: knives built to withstand intensive use, repairable, sharpenable and supported by services throughout their lifetime.
Our values, our essence
Maison Stamm was born from a simple conviction: to do things well, and to make them last.
Each knife reflects a way of working that is both demanding and respectful of materials. Our values guide every creation, from selecting the wood to sharpening the blade.
