Durability: designed to last a lifetime with quality steel and noble wood

How to choose a folding knife for everyday use?

Choosing a folding knife depends on several criteria that influence effectiveness, durability and comfort.

  • The blade: A quality folding knife must have reliable steel.
  • The Soultz Essentiel uses 12C27 stainless steel, renowned for edge retention and easy sharpening. Its 9 cm blade is ideal for a wide range of uses.
  • The mechanism: A secure opening system is essential.
The forced notch (slipjoint) ensures smooth opening and stable locking. The Soultz also features a protective stop that prevents the blade from touching the handle interior, preserving its edge.
  • The handle: A wooden handle provides comfort, robustness and elegance.
The Soultz Essentiel is crafted from tricentennial Alsatian wood, naturally stabilised over time and screwed securely to the mechanism.
  • Craftsmanship: Choosing a French artisanal folding knife ensures a unique, small-batch product made with care at every stage.

Unlike industrial knives, an artisanal model is made to last a lifetime and can be personalised through engraving.

The Soultz embodies French cutlery heritage. Its clean, timeless design reflects traditional Alsatian craftsmanship. Made from noble materials and assembled by hand, it becomes more than a tool, in fact it's a piece of history and character.

How to sharpen and care for your kitchen knife ?

An artisanal kitchen knife requires proper care to maintain its performance and durability over time.
Here are a few simple and effective tips.

Washing

Clean by hand with a soft sponge and dry immediately after use. Avoid dishwasher cleaning, which damages both the steel and the wooden handle.

Lubricating the mechanism

The slipjoint mechanism should be lubricated occasionally with a light food-safe oil or suitable grease.
This maintains smooth opening and extends the mechanism’s lifespan.

Sharpening

Maintain the blade regularly with a whetstone or suitable honing steel, keeping to the recommended angle.

The folding knife: craftsmanship and quality

The Soultz features a 12C27 stainless-steel blade, forged and cryogenically hardened for stability and long-lasting sharpness.

Its handle is crafted from tricentennial Alsatian oak, naturally stabilised over time and secured with strong screws. Its ergonomic form ensures comfort.

The slipjoint mechanism holds the blade securely open, while the protective stop prevents contact between the blade and handle.

How do I open a folding knife safely?

Hold the handle firmly and use the nail nick on the blade to open it. The slipjoint mechanism locks it into a stable open position for secure use.

Does the wooden handle need special care?

The tricentennial oak handle is protected with a natural varnish. Simply dry it after washing and avoid prolonged exposure to water.

Is a folding knife suitable for camping?

Yes, its robust blade and compact format make it ideal for outdoor meals and small tasks during hikes or camping trips.
